Sustainability at UK Kidney Week
This year at UK Kidney Week there is a big focus on sustainability and, with oversight from the UKKA Sustainable Kidney Care Committee, organisers have taken steps to ensure UKKW is as environmentally friendly as possible.
A shuttle bus will run between several hotels, Newport city centre and the train station, encouraging attendees to leave their cars where possible. Reduced rates are also available through Great Western Railway for fares travelling to and from UK Kidney Week and speakers are encouraged to avoid air travel.
Any paper or cardboard used in the promotion of the event has been FSC-certified and the majority of deliveries have been carbon-neutral. The ICC Wales has its own robust sustainability policies, and the venue is equipped with water refill points, recycling stations, electric charging points for cars and lighting systems to conserve energy.
Don’t miss the Climate Clinic, a chance to speak to us about sustainable kidney care and the climate emergency, on Tuesday 6th June at 1:15 pm on the UKKA Stand in the Exhibition Hall.
